Career Summary:
Giacomo Gaetano De Sio obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino in 2022. He then pursued a double Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino and Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, graduating in 2025 with the highest distinction (110/110 cum laude).
He also completed a Master-after-Master in Fluid Dynamics at the von Kármán Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI) in June 2025, where his research focused on the effects of humidity on ionic propulsion systems operating under atmospheric conditions.
Giacomo is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in collaboration with VKI. As part of the European project IPROP, his work focuses on the experimental characterization of ionic propulsion in atmospheric conditions, with particular emphasis on humidity effects analyzed through Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV).
