Career Summary:

Dr. Rekabra Youssef holds a PhD in Electric Vehicles (2019–2023) from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), where she specialised in lithium-ion battery characterisation, modelling, state estimation, and thermal management system optimisation. During her PhD, she contributed to several European Horizon projects (ACHILES, Vesion-Xev, GEIRI, GHOST) and collaborated with industry leaders such as Siemens and Audi. She also serves as a reviewer for international journals and conferences.
She earned a Master’s degree in Engineering Laser (2015–2017), with a focus on optics, optoelectronics, and industrial laser applications, following her Bachelor’s degree in Automotive and Heavy Vehicles Engineering (2009–2015).
Currently, Dr. Youssef is a Research Logistician at UR en Aéro-Thermo-Mécanique, École Polytechnique de Bruxelles, where she coordinates research activities and supports laboratory operations, project planning, and execution.
In addition, she is the Grant Holder Manager for CYPHER, a European COST Action focused on decarbonising energy-intensive industries through research in renewable synthetic fuels combustion, high-fidelity simulations, hybrid physics-based data-driven models, and digital twins. In this role, she oversees project funding, ensures compliance with COST regulations, coordinates administrative activities, and facilitates collaboration across an international network of academic and industry partners.
